Loughborough Wave Lab App

The folks at Loughborough University in the UK have developed and released a fascinating educational application to illustrate the behavior of waves. The Loughborough Wave App offers an intuitive interface to allow the user to explore a variety of simple wave phenomena. This is not an analytic tool. Rather it’s like having a wave pool on your smart phone or tablet in which you can start some ripples and watch them evolve in time. But without having to clean up after the splashes. The App will display Gaussian and sinusoidal waves interfering with each other, waves propagating along a waveguide, and waves interfering through a double slit. Screenshots follow.
